How do I sign in?

Sign in to the CIMG Portal and choose the LMS from your dashboard. You are signed in to the LMS automatically — there is no separate LMS password.

For your security the sign-in link works only once and expires after a few minutes. If you see “Your sign-in link has expired”, go back to the portal and open the LMS again.

Which courses will I see?

The published courses of the pathway recorded for you in the CIMG Portal appear automatically in My learning. When you move to the next pathway, sign in again from the portal and the new courses are added; your earlier courses stay available.

Why can I not open my courses?

The LMS follows your CIMG Portal record. Course content opens only while the portal grants you LMS access and your membership is in good standing (fees paid, nothing outstanding).

If your access is paused, settle any outstanding items in the CIMG Portal or contact the institute. Your progress is kept.

Where do I find my study materials?

Go to My learning and choose a course. Its materials are listed by module; tap one to open it in the reader.

Materials are view-only and carry a watermark with your name and membership ID: they cannot be downloaded, printed or shared.

How is my progress tracked?

Progress is recorded automatically as you study — the pages you read in documents, how much of a video or audio you play, and what interactive (SCORM) lessons report. Other files count as done once opened. Ticking a module is just your own checklist.

How do I submit an assignment?

Open Assignments to see what is due. Choose an assignment, then either type your answer, attach a file (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, text, PNG or JPG), or both, and submit.

When your tutor has marked it, your grade and feedback appear on the same page.

How do online assessments work?

Open Assessments to see quizzes, tests and exams from your courses, with the time window and attempts allowed. Once you press Start the timer runs even if you leave the page; answers save automatically and the assessment is submitted for you when time runs out.

Written answers are marked by an examiner; your results appear when CIMG releases them.

Why was I signed out on another device?

A student account can be open on one device at a time. Opening the LMS from the portal on a new device signs out the previous one. This protects your account and the course content.

Where do I see notifications?

The bell shows updates such as new assignments, grades, live sessions and deadlines.

Can I use the LMS in French or install it?

Yes. Switch between EN and FR at the bottom of the menu; your choice is remembered. On a phone, use your browser's Add to Home screen to install the LMS like an app.

For tutors and examiners

What does my Overview show?

A snapshot of the courses you teach, your students and submissions waiting to be graded.

How do I organise a course into modules?

Go to My courses and select a course. Use Add module to create modules (for example, one per topic or week) and edit them as the course grows.

How do I upload materials?

In My courses, select the course and choose Upload material. You can attach it to a module.

Documents (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, text), images, video, audio and SCORM packages are supported. Learners can only view materials in the protected reader — they cannot download, print or copy them, and every view is watermarked with their name.

How do I set an assignment?

Open Assignments & grading and create an assignment with instructions, total marks and a due date. You can attach a brief. Students only see it once it is published.

How do I create an online assessment?

Open Assessments, create an assessment for your course and add questions: single or multiple choice, true/false, short answer (marked automatically against accepted answers) or essay (marked by an examiner). Set the time limit, attempts, pass mark, availability window and when results are shown, then publish.

The results page shows scores, how each question performed, and lets you export or release results.

How does marking work?

Marking queue lists written answers waiting for a mark in the assessments you may mark (courses you teach, or where you are assigned as examiner). Enter points and feedback; the attempt is graded once every answer is marked.

Can I upload interactive (SCORM) lessons?

Yes — in My courses, choose Add SCORM package and upload a SCORM 1.2 .zip (for example exported from Articulate Storyline, Rise or iSpring). Lessons run in a secure sandbox and report completion and scores to the learner's progress.

How do I post announcements and schedule live sessions?

In your course workspace, use Announcements to message all enrolled learners, and Live sessions to schedule a Zoom, Teams or Meet class. Learners are notified in the LMS, can add it to their calendar and join from 15 minutes before the start.

How do I grade submissions?

In Assignments & grading, open an assignment to see its submissions. Open a submission, enter the marks and feedback, and save. The student sees their grade straight away.

For administrators

How do students get into the LMS?

Only through the CIMG Portal. The portal sends a one-time sign-in link; the LMS verifies it with the portal and creates or updates the student’s account (name, membership ID, pathway, good standing). Students never register or hold a password here.

A student can open content only while the portal grants LMS access and reports good standing. The LMS re-checks this with the portal regularly while they study.

Building the course library

In Courses, create each course in its pathway (PW1–PW7), assign tutors and add modules, materials and assessments. When you publish a course, every student of that pathway is enrolled automatically; others follow at their next sign-in.

How is content protected?

Files are stored outside the public web folder and are served only to enrolled students whom the portal allows, through short-lived links bound to their account. Documents open in a view-only reader, with the viewer’s name and membership ID watermarked on every page and video. Downloading, printing and right-click saving are blocked, a student can be signed in on one device at a time, and every view is recorded.

Enrolling a student manually

Enrollments lists who is in which course. Use Enrol a student for a course outside their pathway (for example a resit), or Withdraw to remove access to one course. Manual decisions are never overwritten by the automatic pathway enrolment.

Students

Students shows learners as the portal reports them: membership ID, pathway and access. Refresh from portal re-reads a student’s status immediately. Block in LMS removes access regardless of the portal.

Staff accounts and roles

Create LMS staff in Staff: course managers, tutors and examiners sign in at the staff sign-in page with their email and a password. A temporary password is shown to you once; they must change it at first sign-in. CIMG Portal administrators arrive through the portal with the administrator role.

Roles & permissions controls exactly which pages and actions each role can use.

System health and backups

System health checks the configuration (including the CIMG Portal connection and the bootstrap password), shows the scheduler and the latest backups, and lets you run a backup now. Backups run nightly and are verified automatically.
